A word from organisers
Prospective delegates,
Thanks for taking interest to visit the IT & communication Summit 2010 website. This summit has raised enthusiasm and a lot of excitement amongst people from all walks of life; corporate leaders, IT specialists, bankers, industrialists, professionals, journalists, academicians, business owners and many more.
The reason is so simple, that we are all living in the digital revolution era in which information technology (IT) has been at the epicenter of progress and development in every aspect of life. No economic, social, political or cultural element has been left untouched or influenced by the digital revolution.
Earlier this year, President Kikwete visited California's Silicon Valley, where he met with executives at world’ technology giants Cisco, IBM and Google, which in principal agreed to help Tanzania achieving the vision of becoming an ICT hub of Africa.
At Cisco, President Kikwete discussed the "various steps Tanzania was taking in embracing ICT fully, including that of the laying of a fibre-optic [cable] and the establishment of an IT college at the University of Dodoma."
Such efforts deserve support and contribution of many other players across a range of sectors. Much has been done at the past but a lot more need to be done especially in making such technologies available and affordable to many people in rural communities. The challenge common to many countries in Africa
But we believe realizing this dream is possible. As many people become familiar and users of such technologies so as the demand for such technologies will increase, attracting more players in the industry which will ultimately lower the prices.
A classic example of such simple mathematics can be seen in the telecom industry where the increased number of mobile phone technology subscribers has led to its subsequent reduction in price.
I recommend that you do not miss the upcoming IT & Communication Summit 2010 scheduled for 8-9 March 2010 as it will offer you an opportunity to connect with the Government and industrial players, market your products, establish networks, gain knowledge and exposure as well as sharing various perspectives on matters related to IT and communication in general.
This summit will gather more than 500 delegates in a two days dialogue and showcase forum that will demonstrate the latest and future trends in the IT and communication related products and services available within Tanzania, Africa and the world at large. It will also feature a special symposium on the role of social media to social, political and economic development as well as a cocktail reception that will offer you a relaxed opportunity to interact with key figures and practitioners across businesses and career
We have invited great speakers and panel discussants who will take us through the summit, provoke our thinking and bring to our minds the current and future world of information and knowledge technology. More updates on speaker’s profiles and topics will be posted on this website soon.
I wait to see you l at Diamond Jubilee VIP Hall, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania on 3rd March 2010.
Thanking you.
